The Ijunko Dynasty (History DC 20)
Nationality: Juni
Head of Household: The Celestial Emperor, Fen Si
Other Important People: (Various immigrant Juni representatives far removed from that divine personage, to be named shortly)
The Ijunko dynasty has ruled over the majority of the Juni lands since the beginning of that culture's recorded history. Descended, it is said, from Jun-tat himself, they represent that heavenly bureaucracy on the material plane, ruling by divine mandate, with varying degrees of enlightenment over the centuries.

Though all Ijunko are, therefore, related to the Celestial Emperor, for most it is a distant and tenuous connection. With thousands of cousins, uncles, grand- and great-grandsires, Haniwa is one such distant relative. Raised far from the Court of the Sun, he led a privileged, but disciplined early life, devoted to the mastering of the Juni martial arts and way of being. Quiet, though not particularly clever, devoted to family and obedient to his masters, these qualities made him an excellent candidate to accompany his elders on their journey to the west, to establish a presence near the lands of the Deathless Despot, Emperor Einart.

Port Eilast presented as the most logical place to begin. While the Juni settlement in the Black Isles was established and grows, Haniwa accompanies the delegation of his illustrious house to the trading city, where they work to establish a grand Temple of Enlightenment, from which to spread Juni disciplines and philosophies, and so gain a foothold in this strange and foreign land.

Ijunko Dynasty Heraldry
Though, with so many branches of the dynasty, there are a bewildering number of devices associated with them, many so subtly differentiated that it would take a court herald to distinguish them, the Celestial Emperor's own device is a golden Juni creature known as a Ki-Rin.

The Ijunko have established their presence in Port Eilast with the Temple of Enlightenment. This magnificent domed edifice, built of granite and marble, dominates the Plaza of Drakes. Though fallen into disuse and ruin in recent years, greybeards may remember it as having once been the Temple of Suilan.

Though of unquestionably western design and architecture, the Temple has been re-built and refurbished within in eastern style, no expense spared to create an atmosphere of peace, serenity, and martial purity. The central hall, nearly fifty feet high and capped by a domed skylight, serves both as a sort of outer court and training ground. Here the many Juni holy monks train and practice their devotions, a sight stunning to behold in their saffron and ivory silks.

The upper levels all have balconies opening onto this spectacle. While below are the monks' cells, each subsequent level of these adjoining structures grows more opulent and spacious, from bureaucrat's offices to meditation shrines to, eventually, the apartments of the aristocracy.

The whole is done in bright silks, intricate stonework and bright gold, while the most important or delicate pieces are done in jade, the precious material most favored by the Juni in both its green and most prized, rarer white form.
